Professional Development Ideas & Resources

We’ve been busy pulling weeds, prepping the soil and sharpening our tools at Nonprofit Garden! What does that really mean? Well it means, we’ve been attending conferences including the amazing Nonprofit Technology Conference (NTC) held last month. We have also been putting together our own presentations and are excited to announce we will be at the Rocky Mountain Philanthropy Institute in Breckenridge, CO. If you or your family need a mountain getaway vacation — and you want to call it “work” come join us at RMPI next fall.

This industry, technology solutions, and your options for fundraising software have changed dramatically in the past 10 years. We all owe it to our donors, to stay on top of automation, best practices and new offerings to ensure we are using our donor’s dollars wisely. One of the best ways to do that is simply to take free webinars, engage with your local AFP or NTEN chapters, or read the latest book summaries for nonprofit professionals at Cause Planet.  If you are looking to sharpen your professional development tools, there are lots of free and low-cost options. It is our duty to ourselves, and to our donors, to stay on top of best practices.

Are your tools as sharp as they used to be?

Are you in the right ballpark?

Remember when IBM, AT&T and Blackbaud were the only game in town? The world has changed and so should you! Blackbaud is still a great provider if your organization can justify the cost. However, if your agency has an annual operating budget of less than $10 million annually there are quite a number of good cloud-based alternatives these days! We’d be happy to help you work on making a dent in that annual expense. From database cleanup, to cost-benefit analyses to conversions, we are here to help you make every donor dollar count!

Alphabet Soup of Optimization?

Do you know SEO? Are you using SEM? Is this just alphabet soup to you and your web team?  Learn the real definition and distinction on a very useful marketing blog from Hubspot.

Does your organization have a Digital Strategy?

Or are you still winging it with Google Analytics and  hoping for the best? Here’s a great benchmarking report (from our friends at NTEN) to help you.

Yes, Virginia — there is a Santa Clause!

Have you been hearing that NetCommunity is “dying” or “can’t be responsive”? That’s not the case at all. Check out our latest redesign, Saint Leo University’s Alumni site. Great graphics, features and functionality on all devices. All with the benefit of integrating transactions directly into your database. No imports required. Check out more of our success stories.

Are you about to be dumped?

If it’s been a while since your organization has taken a hard look at how you email, then Email on Acid’s How to Lose an Email Subscriber in 10 Days is the article for you to read & share with your team. It’s more important than ever before to keep the relationship with your constituents alive. And… don’t show up in inboxes looking like a hot mess.
